More Luxury in Less Space in This Year’s Top Upscale Compacts
While the inherent advantage of driving a smaller car is apparent, at times there can be a stigma surrounding smaller compact cars as opposed to full-sized sedans. Certainly there are a lot of great cars out there with a big more room to maneuver for passengers, but a small car gives you more room to maneuver on the road. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with buying a full-size; however, it should be equally acceptable to purchase a smaller car by choice, not as a means of fiscal responsibility. Here is a look at a few higher end small cars that will leave onlookers too busy gawking in envy to size up your car.
- BMW 1-Series (MSRP base: 29,250) The 1-Series is, after all, a BMW, so nothing less than superior quality should be expected. Where else can you find such a small car capable of 300 horsepower while still wrapped in impressively presented package? The 1-series is an exquisite mix of driving capability and a flair for the finer things in life. It won’t blow you away with bells and whistles, but this car stays true to the BMW name it that it is clean cut, elegant and drives like a dream.
- Audi A3 Hatchback (MSRP base: 27,270) Combining a sports car-esque performance with the added space of a hatchback, the Audi A3 delivers on seemingly every front. The speed, acceleration and handle of the car may be matched by other small cars in its class (doubtfully outdone), though few are able to provide the same driving experience complete with the same level of luxurious amenities.
- Acura TSX (MSRP base: 29,310) Arguably the most polarizing car around among comparable small luxury models, no one is disputing the TSX’s remarkable interior design, functionality and first class feel. The exterior on the other hand is either met with immediate praise or disgust. A very solid performing car, perhaps the TSX is a model you have to see for yourself before forming your own opinion.
